Goji Berry- A Healthy Habit

Goji berry- A step towards a healthy life

I am a little choosy when it comes to food and grocery. If we are in any restaurant I will proactively glance at the menu and look for the items I am familiar with and that’s what goes in for my order. I seldom step out of my known territory. Likewise, I resist the addition of any new grocery item to my pantry I am not familiar with. In a way I love being in my comfort zone which I know at times is not a good thing to do.

Gogi Berry was one such thing, I resisted because I hadn’t heard of it before but my husband is very experimental and likes to try everything under the sun when it comes to food (vegetarian). He researched about it and knowing its health benefits he emphasized adding it to our diet. It eventually entered my pantry and became one of my favorite berries.

Goji berry is just another type of berry, like strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, cranberry.

It is a superfood and has legions of health benefits which makes it a good fit for our pantry.

This orange bright red berry also known as wolfberry is native to Asia. Sweet-tart in taste this berry is slightly chewy in the mouth when eaten in dried form. It has been known to be used in traditional medicine for centuries in many East Asian countries.

It is high in nutritional content. It is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A and C. It also contains iron, fiber, and 8 essential amino acids which our body doesn’t produce and needs to get from food.
It had been found helpful in treating high blood pressure, fever, and age-related eye problems. It is believed that with Its regular consumption life becomes longer.
It is available and can be enjoyed mostly in dried form. Besides, it can be eaten fresh and is also available in powder form and juice.
