From A Mother’s Diary

As a mother of two growing teenagers, I have encountered these questions consistently: what’s in lunch today, or is there something tasty to eat? When my kids ask the second question they certainly mean anything but Indian food.

The more these questions daunted me, the more they inspired me to learn and cook recipes of their choice. When it comes to children moms know no boundaries.

I was never very innovative in the kitchen in my early years, cooked my comfort food that encompassed a regular Indian meal and a few snack items. I used to spend more time in the kitchen cleaning and keeping it spick and span. Cleaning and organizing things always fascinated me more than anything else. But after being a mother my outlook completely changed and my trips to the kitchen increased. I started enjoying and spending more time cooking. I would try dishes of different tastes and flavors and feed them. But with the growing age, their taste and choice changed. And lately to find the answer to that typical question I stumbled upon many food blogs and videos and learned new recipes. And I realized how delightful and fulfilling it was to cook and serve them the foods that appealed to their taste buds. It also enhanced my cooking experience and helped me learn about different cultures because every food and cuisine has its own cultural identity.
