Book Review-The Maze Runner by James Dashner

A dystopian sci-fi novel and the first book in the maze runner series. I was drawn to the book by reading its blurb and recommendations on the internet. The characters, the pace of the plot, ideas, and theme make the story interesting and keep the readers hooked throughout.
”Thomas” his name, the only word he remembers when he opens his eyes and finds himself in a metal box that looked much like an old elevator. He enters a new world, having all his memories wiped off. The door of the metal box opens and he finds himself surrounded by a group of boys some older and some younger than him. This whole new enigmatic world has glade, deadly grievers(a dark machinery bulbous creature), and an unnerving and ever-changing maze, that makes it seem like a one-way trip that has the entry but no exit. Everybody lived there with just one goal in the mind to be able to keep away from grievers and find a way out of this mysterious maze. Then arrives a first girl ever in the maze with a mystifying message “end has been triggered and soon everything is going to change.” The message horrifies each one of them as an unanticipated turn of events occur one after another. Things start deteriorating and fear and panic sweep over all of them. They lose all their hopes of getting out of the maze and give in to the miserable situation they are in. Thomas and his friends fight their fear, take challenges into strides, and try to decode the menacing maze and make a safe exit out of this frightening and spine chilling place.
Did they ever find the exit? Was the exit really the safest way out as they had thought it would be? Or they were under the illusion that they will be safe once out of this maze? Or the creators(who had created the maze)had something else in the store for them? The storyline is full of suspense which compels readers to turn pages till the end.
The story ends on a cliffhanger that draws me to the sequel to the Maze Runner that’s “The Scorch Trial”.
