I was longing to see this movie since its trailer was out. The trailer itself left me with goosebumps that I could not wait to watch this movie. That doesn’t mean I rushed to the theater to watch it. I waited until it was available on digital media and yesterday I got a chance to watch it on Netflix. In general I prefer watching movies in my house rather than rushing to the theater.
The story, inspired by true events, is about a two years old girl who when wakes up, finds her mother sleeping all day, ignorant of the fact that she actually had died by consuming overdose of sleeping pills.
She tries hard to wake her mom up continually but of no avail. She does her morning chores with difficulty as her mom used to do everything for her. When she is hungry she gets some food from last night leftovers. Yesterday was her 2nd birthday party.
This little girl is the main actor or character in the movie who engaged us for one and half hours and shared the screen almost till the end. Every time she managed to get out of one problem only to get into another. Her countenance and innocent gestures did not let me blink my eyes for a second.
One of the scariest scenes was when her doll falls on the ground and she climbs
up the Balcony grill and leans over to get her doll, my heart was almost in my mouth. Another one was when she feels peckish and tries to heat a roti in the open flame and burn it. There were several moments like these that took my breath away.
She is lovely. She is adorable. Hats off to the little girl and to the maker of this movie who managed to bring out innocence from a two year old in front of camera that not only thrilled its viewers but made the movie a hit.
