While dusting the book shelf my hands laid on this thick book named “Feluda”. It reminded me of those days when Vaibhav (my elder son) was avid Feluda reader and had finished both the volumes in a short span of time. Each volume consists of approximately 750 pages. His fascination towards book energized me and I also ended up devouring the book.
Feluda is a compilation of short detective stories by renowned author Satyajit Ray. A man of many parts, Satyajit Ray was a great filmmaker and screenwriter too . He was known for directing many films that were better from one another.
Three main characters of Feluda are Lal Mohan Ganguly a.k.a Jatayu, Topeshranjan Mitter a.k.a Topshe and Pradosh C Mitter a.k.a Feluda. Story is being narrated by Topshe who is cousin of Feluda and also assists Feluda in solving mysteries. Jatayu a friend of Feluda, is very comic by nature and a famous crime thriller writer. Feluda the protagonist is a prominent detective. Most stories start with humorous dialogues between three main characters. And then it gradually shifts and revolves around the crime, that is where our sleuth Feluda gets in and investigation starts. Feluda with all his skills solves the mystery and then comes the climax (my favorite part) where he reveals the motive behind the murder and the sequence in which the crime happened. The storyline has been narrated with unflagging gusto which keeps the readers entertained and engrossed throughout. The book is very popular among children and those who like poring over crime stories. It’s really an unputdownable read.
