Books adapting to movies have gained popularity over time. To name a few are Two States, Parineeta, The Guide, Three Idiots, Devdas. Needless to say, some of them have been super successful on the big screen and more famous than their book counterparts. Both books and movies are ways of storytelling. Movies, unlike books, have visuals, sounds, songs, and special effects, that make the story more gripping and leave a long-lasting impact on our mind. It takes just three hours to finish watching a movie despite the fact it may take days to a few weeks to finish a book.
Having said that all I personally prefer reading books than watching movies. In my opinion, we get firsthand experience of content and information that the author wants to impart, no less no more. However in the movies sometimes to enhance the cinematic experience and show it more effectively either they add or delete some elements from the book. And it remains no longer the same story as it had been in the book. Additionally, it also enhances our vocabulary and comprehensive skills. We imagine every character, situation, mood, setting in our mind, and see them through our mind’s eye. I may sound biased saying this but finishing a book gives me a sense of achievement and satisfaction too whereas movies don’t.
