After a long wait finally today I got a chance to watch 12th Fail.
It did not let me take my eyes off the TV screen and I remained stuck to the edge of the seat. Truly a box office winner and a thought-provoking motion picture.
It’s a biography of an IPS officer chronicling his life events and experiences. It depicts the real struggles and challenges he had been through during his civil services exam.
A question hit me the moment I finished watching. Shraddha the female protagonist has been portrayed as talented and tenacious as Manoj Sharma if not more. She cleared her Mains followed by the interview much before him and was deputed as deputy collector while he failed Mains once again.
After burning midnight oils for months together he clears preliminary followed by Mains in his last attempt.
But why his success mattered more than any body else’s. Why he was chosen as a main character and his journey deemed phenomenal and miraculous.
Why he drives the story forward and why his pursuing of goal mattered most among all aspirants.
There were thousands of aspirants, as talented and capable as him but what sets him apart and makes his journey remarkable is his tenacity and dedication.
Thousands of candidates participate every year to crack this hard nut but seldom succeed.
It is as hard as squaring a circle and demands a lot of sweat blood and tears.
After failing for couples of times he doesn’t get disheartened and loses his confidence. Rather he restarts his journey with devotion and faith and emerges triumphant and victorious in the end. He could have easily given up but he decides to hang in there and persevere.
He came empty-handed, with no places to live and no means to eat and pay fat coaching fees.
The lack of information, lack of resources and the level of poverty he started from, could be a biggest deterrent but it fueled his determination and with his strong resolution and willpower he went on to become a successful civil servant.
The kind of scarcity and poverty he was stricken with, people generally think of earning two square meals. But he nurtured his thought of becoming an IPS officer even when he failed his 12th exam, is indeed incredible in itself.
He did not let the adversities and challenges shackle him and believed in his wisdom to appear in the IPS exam.
The unflagging resolution and unwavering determination he owned made him stand out in the crowd and rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
The conviction and belief he had in himself, the hope and and aspirations he hinged upon, set him apart from others. It is indeed an inspiring flick and a must watch for students and aspirants.
